This month, we’ve got one of my personal favorites: the Detox Body Scrub with Tea Tree and Grapefruit by Palermo.

Summertime is a weird time for most of us. Some of us get oily, some of us are drier, but most of us get clogged pores from sweat… and I don’t mean on your face. The fact is, over the summer our pores on our bodies tend to clog and leave us with blackheads and debris-filled pores. Do you really want to swim in the pool with all your pores clogged? Not a good look!

As you probably know, the skin on your body needs some TLC (tender loving care) just as your face does, but most of us overlook it and use harsh body washes in the shower. Instead, use this fantastic Detox body scrub!

Now, there are a lot of pretty fantastic body scrubs out there. But what makes this one so special? I’ll tell you why!

The Detox Body Scrub uses Dead Sea salt and pumice stone as the exfoliator to clear your pores. Salt, similar to sugar, is used many times as an anti-cellulite exfoliator. Although this product isn’t marketed for that, it could work. Pumice is one of the softest minerals to exist, giving you a gentle and delicate experience along with the rough sea salt.

You’re probably like, “Okay, but why is ‘detox’ in the title?”

The product also includes a rich sea clay. Clay has been used as a detoxifier for hundreds of years in India and China, and in this case, it reduces inflammation and skin pollution.

The other main ingredients, shea butter, a bunch of nourishing oils like coconut oil, olive oil, and avocado oil, seaweed, poppy seeds, vitamin e, rosemary oil extract, tea tree oil, and grapefruit oil, all work in perfect harmony. As you just read, all of the ingredients are all-natural… no chemical BS!

The shea butter and seaweed are organic, and the dead sea salt, sea clay, and pumice are all naturally harvested as they were created by Mother Earth herself.

Customers who rave about the product say it smells like tea tree oil and “like a spa.” Some people are allergic to tea tree oil, so definitely do not use this product if you have experienced redness, shortness of breath, or hives after using tea tree oil.

The color is pretty dark green, almost like an olive, and you can see the little gritty bits from the pieces of salt, pumice, and poppyseed.

Additionally, the texture is pretty gritty. Because of the astonishing amount of oils (coconut, olive, and avocado, to be exact), aside from the exfoliants, the product is creamy and smooth, like whipped butter.

To use, hop into a warm shower and wash your hair, and put in the conditioner. While you’re giving the conditioner time to nourish your hair, take a dollop of the scrub and scrub-a-dub-dub! Rub in circular motions until the texture isn’t as creamy and the oils have melted. Wash it off, and you’re left with perfect, clean skin!

Remember to not keep the scrub in the hot shower with you as the shea butter and oils will melt into liquid form and it won’t be as easy to use.

As an added bonus, all of Palermo’s products are cruelty-free (save the bunnies!), all-natural and contain no toxic or cancerous chemicals, and are fair-trade and ethically sourced. If you don’t know what that means, it means that the people who worked to collect the materials, like the salt and shea butter, were all paid fair salaries and treated kindly.

Lastly, the packaging is sustainable. It comes in a recyclable/reusable glass jar and a recyclable box.

Looks like the Palermo Detox Body Scrub is checking all the boxes!
