Welcome to our June edition of the Clean Beauty Roundup! Here you’ll find all the details about what’s going on in the world of clean beauty, new products, promotions, and sales. There’s a lot to go over this month, so let’s dive right in!
Skincare is focusing evermore on the things that we as consumers are asking for: sustainability, simplicity, ingredients we can feel good about, and great value. Luckily, brands both big and small are starting to listen!
We can see the sustainability factor in terms of packaging, with clean beauty brands starting to offer reusable and refillable products that reduce waste. One example of this is Hear Me Raw’s sustainable packaging system. Their aim is to save you money while you protect the environment with their Refill Pod System that includes reusable jars and lids combined with refill “pods” of their popular face masks.
Another trend is the move towards simplification of beauty rituals. 13-Step skincare routines are out, and easy, multi-use products are in. Noto Botanics is proving this theory with the popularity of it’s new Rooted Oil. A product with sustainably sourced ingredients, clean formulation, and multifunctional benefits for all genders. This oil can be used for body, hair and beards and can be used simply as a body scent or as a nourishing hair and body oil. It is getting rave reviews over it’s captivating, all-natural scent.
This month, Beautycounter has launched a new sunscreen (Countersun Daily Sheer Defense For Face – SPF 25). We are so excited about this one that it happens to be our Product of the Month. You can check out that article and get all the details on this product, HERE.
Finally, the world of clean beauty is excited to welcome a new product from Farmacy Beauty, the Deep Sweep 2% BHA pore cleansing toner with moringa and papaya. Expanding on the popularity from their cleansing balm, this toner uses salicylic acid as a gentle exfoliant and papaya enzymes to deep clean your pores. Free of questionable ingredients, this is a toner for combination, oily or acne-prone skin that you can really feel good about!
I would be remiss not to mention that we are seeing various effects of the worldwide pandemic within the clean beauty world. Many brands have decided to forego launching their products during this time, which is why we aren’t seeing quite so many new lines hitting the shelves this month. We do expect to see a slew of new product launches later on in the year.
Another Covid-19 effect, besides the run on hand sanitizer and aloe, is an uptick in the popularity of solid products. Solid shampoos, shower gels and toothpastes are all making an appearance on clean beauty product lines this spring and summer, as they not only adhere to the current zero waste trends but also are seen as a more hygienic solution in our current pandemic-exposed world.
On a less negative note, one beauty trend we are seeing is the “mask make-up” look. As more and more of us choose to (or have to) wear face masks on a daily basis, this newest makeup trend focuses on the eyes with plenty of eyeliner, shadow and mascara in the works to make having to wear a mask just a little bit more playful and fun.
Finally, thanks to the other biggest news going on in the world right now, black-owned businesses are having a moment, and personally, we hope that trend is here to stay! To close our Clean Beauty Roundup for June, here are two of our favorite black-owned businesses in the clean beauty realm!
